Presidential election 2020. Who will win in the second round of presidential elections? Survey results

In the second round of presidential elections, Andrzej Duda will be supported by 45.4 percent of voters, and Rafał Trzaskowski 44.7 percent – according to the Kantar poll for TVN and TVN24 ‘Facts’, carried out after the announcement of the results of the first round.

The exit poll conducted by Ipsos shows that in the first round of elections the president in office Andrzej Duda gained 41.8 percent support. Rafał Trzaskowski, a candidate of the Civic Coalition, came in second with support 30.4 percent of respondents. If these results are confirmed and none of the candidates receives more than 50 percent support, Duda and Trzaskowski will play in the second round, which will take place on July 12.

Survey: less than a percentage point difference in the second round

The Kantar studio conducted a survey on the second round of elections on behalf of TVN and TVN24’s “Facts”. It was implemented on June 28 after 9pm, that is after the exit poll results were announced. A nationwide, representative group of 1513 adults over a mixed method was tested – telephone and internet interviews.

45.4 percent respondents replied that they would vote for the incumbent President Andrzej Duda.

Rafał Trzaskowski supported 44.7 percent respondents.

9.9 percent gave the answer “I don’t know / hard to say / I haven’t decided yet”.

“Fight for electorates” begins

The results of the survey were commented by journalists in a special edition of the “Press Lodge” on TVN24.

Łukasz Warzecha from “Do Rzeczy” said that “this survey does not differ from the previous ones”. – The question we can ask is where do the candidates get the missing votes from. Duda scored a good result, but is quite close to the limit of increasing the electorate. Trzaskowski is far behind (…), but in my opinion he has more opportunities, resources to increase his electorate – he said.

Renata Grochal from “Newsweek” said that the fight before the second round “will be fought for the electorates of Szymon Hołownia and on the other hand Krzysztof Bosak.” – The president and his staff will try to attract the Confederate electorate, Krzysztof Bosak, and this is a difficult electorate to obtain for the PiS candidate. (…) Voters of Hołownia are voters disappointed with Platforma Obywatelska. It is not known whether they will be willing to vote for Rafał Trzaskowski without a clear indication – says she.

Andrzej Stankiewicz from Onet said that “Rafał Trzaskowski needs a miracle” to win the second round. – Even assuming that each voter in Hołownia will vote for Trzaskowski, Trzaskowski cannot look for votes elsewhere. It will be very hard for him. I’m not saying that Trzaskowski has no chance, but he must find a new idea for the campaign – he assessed.
