In the middle of the decor, a question asked by Yannick Jadot: when should the ecologists nominate their presidential candidate? The MEP has the answer. He wants a vote by activists before the end of the calendar year. One way to get ahead of the competition that is preparing, especially that of the rebellious Mélenchon. Problem: a majority of activists and leaders of Europe Ecology-the Greens do not share his analysis.
A new mayor blows: “Our activists do not want to talk about the presidential election, they want substance, ideas. This debate is beyond me. ” The party leader, for example, says: “We have to do things in stages. So, first the departmental and regional before thinking about the presidential election. ” Julien Bayou adds a touch of “pragmatism” in his argument: “We are a small party with five employees, we cannot set up a primary overnight. We need time and resources. ”
An answer that does not suit Yannick Jadot and his friends. They plan to put the pressure on in the days and weeks to come. It’s no secret: Jadot is in competition with the mayor of Grenoble, Eric Piolle. They make sure to never cross paths in the aisles. A cold war.
