News for those who will have to carry out the return swab from Greece, Croatia, Spain and Malta. Checks for those who land at Orio al Serio airport from countries at risk will be carried out near the Fiera in via Lunga and no longer at Oriocenter as announced on Wednesday 19 August.
The tampons will start at the Via Lunga Fair starting from Saturday 22 August. The official announcement came with a communication from the Lombardy Region, after an inspection which took place on Thursday morning 20 August in the presence of the direction of Pope John XXIII, who made some spaces available.
Therefore, the use of the spaces of the Smart Clinic of the San Donato Group which are inside Oriocenter is no longer envisaged.
Already on Wednesday the idea of opening a space also dedicated to the Fair, to the field hospital that currently houses the clinics for the follow-up of those recovered from Covid was considered between the Region, Ats and Asst Papa Giovanni di Bergamo. The assessment of the inspection concerned in particular the identification of spaces that are not in connection with the existing clinics, to avoid any risk of contagion, and also to verify the need for additional space, given that the tampons, with reservation to the numbers regional, can always be performed in all three Asst.

The service must be booked at the San Donato Group call center, following the instructions available on the Ats Bergamo website. Only for the day of Friday 21 August, to dispose of the reservations already made, the swabs will be performed at the Smart Clinic of the Orio Center.
While on Linate the decisions will be taken on Friday 21 August with an inspection, an update on Malpensa: “From Thursday morning, passengers from Greece, Malta, Croatia and Spain who land at Malpensa airport have 8 operating stations available to carry out the swab. Stations that will remain active every day from 9 to 18.30 – explain from the Region -. The molecular test can be carried out by those returning from the 4 countries indicated by the Ministerial Ordinance of 12 August and by passengers arriving from the same countries who have planned to stay in Italy for at least 4 days. From Friday other stations will be available outside the airport ».
«The spaces that, at first, had been identified at Malpensa by Sea and Usmaf would have allowed the activation of three stations – explains the councilor for Welfare – with the possibility of carrying out 500 swabs. We had therefore established some priorities which, in order, would have favored foreign tourists (difficult to recover after leaving the airport) and Lombard citizens (who can count on the online reporting systems of the Ats). When Sea and Usmaf have increased the areas available with a capacity to carry out 2000 swabs per day, thus increasing the number of passengers to be tested. Consequently, foreign tourists will be tested, then Italian citizens, both from Lombardy and residing in other regions ».
The results of the swab will be available via email or sms within 24/48 hours.
“From 12 August, the day of the ministerial ordinance – added Marco Trivelli, director general of the Lombardy Region Welfare Department – we immediately activated and our Asst have increased thea capacity to swab over 6,000 units compared to the daily average, which will become 7,500 from next week, precisely to guarantee checks to citizens arriving from the 4 countries indicated. In fact, about 80% is performed on the territory through the online services developed by the Ats. Many travelers, in fact, especially from Spain and Croatia, use the car, bus or train. When Sea and Usmaf granted the necessary spaces, the access points at the airport were activated to guarantee the residual part of the controls and to lighten the burden of reservations and subsequent responses by the territorial network. However, there is still an invitation to preferentially report to the relevant Ats so as to be contacted as soon as possible, generally within 48 hours. Controls on returns are very important because they are returning 4% of positives compared to 1 recorded in the territory, including the areas most at risk ».
The screening campaign for those returning from countries at risk is proceeding positively for 70% of the regional territory. Some critical issues were found that led to a wait of more than 48 hours in the Milan area, due to the thousands of reports registered in a few days. Here, too, the situation is normalizing through a further strengthening of services and thanks to swabs performed directly at airports.
