Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, revealed that the Egyptian National Program for Diagnosis and Treatment tuberculosis “TB” is a successful program, with a clear strategy and has been operating very efficiently for several years. The program was developed with the participation of a group of Egyptian experts specialized in this field.

He added, in a special statement to Al-Youm Al-Sabea, that this program controlled the disease in Egypt, and achieved great success, whether in tuberculosis of its various types, or in drug-resistant strains, explaining that Egypt provides free treatment for tuberculosis patients in all diagnostic centers. Tuberculosis is treated in all governorates, and medicines that treat drug-resistant tuberculosis are provided, despite their high price, free of charge, in all hospitals and centers spread across the republic.

This came in response to the recent announcement by the World Health Organization of the existence of a new strain of tuberculosis that is resistant to all types of antibiotics currently present in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, which represents about 6 to 7%. This came on the sidelines of the third conference of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain University. sun.
