Club President Martin Bruckner wrote an open letter to the Rapid family on Monday about the coronavirus pandemic.
The head of Austria’s soccer record champions emphasized that with the virus, an invisible opponent had literally turned life upside down. In this economically difficult situation of the club, everyone would have to do their part.
170 jobs secured in the club
“There is currently only one priority in our country and that is not to overload our health system and thus save lives,” said Bruckner. Rapid is now working in the home office. Despite the enormous economic consequences of the game break, the approximately 170 jobs in the club are to be secured. Bruckner: “Everyone, and especially those who have a relatively high income in normal times, will have to cut back in the next few months.”
The team wants to make a contribution
The two managing directors Zoran Barisic and Christoph Peschek would have guaranteed to forego a substantial part of their salary for this phase. The players’ council around Stefan Schwab, Christopher Dibon and Mario Sonnleitner were also aware of the precarious situation and had assured that they would make their contribution with the entire team, Bruckner wrote.
