This multicenter study is being conducted by the Oncogenic Virus Service, National and Regional HPV Reference Laboratory of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INEI)- ANLIS Malbrán (MSAL), with the participation of the Directorate of Control of Immunopreventable Diseases (DICEI-MSAL ) . ) and the Ministries of Health of the provinces of Misiones, La Rioja, San Luis, Córdoba and Santa Fe.

His objective is to determine the prevalence of HPV types in cervicovaginal samples of sexually active adolescent women aged 15 to 18, who have received the HPV vaccine, in our province he will be responsible for the gynecology team of the Escuela de Agudos Hospital Dr. Ramón Madariaga and is expected to start with sampling the first days of December.

Misiones has already participated in the two previous cohorts in which samples were taken from women who had not received the HPV vaccine, which current Health Minister Carla Vizzotti was a part of, and said work has been featured in scientific journals. Argentina and Australia are the only two countries that have carried out this type of study.

In this framework, the Head of Care of the Hospital Escuela Dr. Ramón Madariaga, Dalila Bühl expressed: “for us at the hospital school to do research work and unite these provinces together with the national and provincial ministries of health, working together In this matter by seeing the impact of a vaccine as important as the HPV one and having a group of our professionals drive it locally, we are proud ”.

The director of the National Administration of Laboratories and Health Institutes (ANLIS) Malbrán, Pascual Fidelio, said that “the realization of this impact study is possible thanks to the fact that we are in a moment where the political will and the clear directives to achieve federal health, it is possible to transform ideas into projects and projects into reality, all while seeking equitable quality health for all Argentines.

In turn, the director of general coordination of the Misiones Health Park, Natalia Rodríguez, stressed the importance of valuing these studies that measure the real impact of the political decisions that are made when vaccines are added to the calendar, and “now we see in this For how reality impacts, I welcome this theme of the Nation-Province work, which is the most visible, but also within the province that is present here today, together we build the health of the province. university, of the faculties and the joint work of the different areas”. And he added: We are very honored to be one of the centers selected for this, which gives us great prestige that the Hospital’s gynecology service undoubtedly deserves.

The Minister of Public Health of Misiones, Oscar Alarcón, noted that it is “very important to share this study that will be carried out and that has a strong impact. This has each of the members of this healthcare family with a heavy heart and great pride, because we always read what comes from another part of the world, but the time has come for us to be the ones to carry on the trial medicine for that others copy us and that the world says look at this work of great development and high impact that the nation has done with the province of Misiones and that will give those results that will be read to us in any other part of the planet ” .

The Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti remarked that “today is an important day in health matters for Misiones and for the country, we are starting the third cohort of the research study to evaluate the impact of vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV )) in Argentina in the field of cervical cancer prevention, 10 years after its implementation We know how important it is to have political and budgetary support to be able to carry out this type of multicenter study, which not many consider important, and that is why that I am pleased that Misiones is starting this new phase today, in which it has already participated in the previous two. . Data that will be important for the country as well as for the Region”.

“With the previous studies we had as a result that the efficacy of the vaccine for the prevention of HPV infection between 16 and 18 years estimated in adolescents in Argentina was more than 93%. Which is no small thing. For this reason, the next step is to determine the prevalence of HPV genotypes in sexually active young women (aged 15 to 20) vaccinated (quadrivalent vaccine) and compare them with the data already obtained in previous studies”, Vizzotti pointed out.

Lieutenant Governor Carlos Arce recalled the work of the National Ministry of Health in federalizing the provision of infrastructure, vaccination in the 24 districts of the pandemic, “there was no political color that led to a different conduct of the National Ministry of Health and we recognize that He told us that health comes first. Argentina was one of the countries that handled the pandemic best and we are proud of that.” He highlighted the work between the public health sector and the private one by the missionaries

Finally, he celebrated the beginning of this new study and called on the entire missionary society to reflect and vaccinate their daughters and sons against HPV.
