Premier League, Football | The Benfica coach’s message before the transfer to Manchester City:

Benfica coach Jorge Jesus came with an ever so small sting to Ruben Dias when he said goodbye to his teammates.

Earlier this week, Manchester City confirmed that the club is bringing in midfielder Ruben Dias from Benfica, while Nicolas Otamendi is going the opposite way.

According to the BBC, the transfer fee is just under 800 million kroner for the Portuguese national team player.

– You go to a smaller club

Shortly after the transfer was confirmed by the clubs, Benfica released one YouTubevideo, where you could say goodbye to Dias with your teammates.

However, it is coach Jorge Jesus who has made sure that the video has gone viral, after he in front of the entire Benfica stable, including a weeping Ruben Dias, stated the following:

– That’s life as a football player. You go from a big club, much bigger than City. We’re just less economical. That’s what makes the difference.

The session is now covered by newspapers around the world.

Dias seems to take it all in a good mood and smiles at the coach, before he sheds tears when he himself has to say goodbye to his teammates.

– Have seen the Premier League for many years

In his first interview as a Manchester City player, Dias says that he is looking forward to trying his hand in the Premier League.

– For many years I have watched the Premier League. In all these years I have seen Manchester City win and be on top. That I’m here means I’m on top now. That’s what I wanted, says Dias club websites.

– For me, playing for a club like this in a league like this is all I could ever dream of, Dias continues.

Manchester City advanced to the quarter-finals of the League Cup after a 3-0 win away against Burnley on Wednesday night.

The next task is the away match with Leeds in the Premier League next Saturday.
