PKB Calls Golkar to Join the Grand Coalition

Prabowo and two high ranking officials meeting Golkar Party occurred amid the issue of forming a grand coalition ahead of the 2024 General Election. Previously, General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin said the party coalition with Gerindra in the Great Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KIR), would add new members. The party bearing the banyan tree together with the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the United Development Party (PPP) are partners in the United Indonesia Coalition, alias KIB. Cak Imin hopes that PAN and PPP will also follow Golkar’s steps to join forces to form a grand coalition with PKB and Gerindra.

“This PKB-Gerindra additional coalition has just been fixed by Golkar. Hopefully it doesn’t change. Later it will be followed by PAN maybe, PPP, and others,” said Cak Imin at the PKB DPP Office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, April 18.

Cak Imin said that the Golkar Party regularly attends meetings with PKB and Gerindra. He said that his communication with Golkar was intensive. “So far communication is intensive. What is clear is that the meetings will continue,” he said.

Muhaimin hopes that the grand coalition can strengthen the coalition that PKB and Gerindra have forged. As for the affairs of the presidential and cawapres candidates, he said, they would be discussed in the next round. “We hope that this coalition can further strengthen the PKB-Gerindra coalition,” he said.
