The latest Poltracking Indonesia survey places the Minister of Defense as well as General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto in the top position as the presidential candidate with the highest electability.

The survey was conducted by Poltracking Indonesia on 9-15 April 2023 or before Ganjar Pranowo declared as a presidential candidate by PDIP. In the survey with a simulation of 20 names, Prabowo took first place with 28.8 percent electability.

In second place is Ganjar Pranowo with an electability of 27.5 percent. Then, Anies Baswedan, who is a presidential candidate from the Change Coalition for Unity, occupies third place with 19.3 percent electability.

Then, there are also names such as Ridwan Kamil (3 percent), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) (2.8 percent), to Erick Thohir (2.3 percent).

“Prabowo and Ganjar are slightly adrift in the margin of error. But relatively Pak Prabowo is ahead of Ganjar,” said Poltracking Indonesia Executive Director Hanta Yuda in his press conference, Friday (28/4).

Hanta said Prabowo’s name was also still ahead of Ganjar and Anies in the simulation of 10 names and three names of presidential candidates.

He also considered it difficult to come up with another presidential candidate because the electability of Ganjar, Prabowo and Anies were far superior to the other candidates.

“Other names are under five percent. This confirms the electoral map for the presidential election, so it is difficult for names other than this name to appear. This might be a consideration for Golkar, because the electability vortex is an important point for the presidential candidate,” he said.

Hanta said Prabowo’s electability had increased significantly in April compared to previous months. Meanwhile, Anies was stable from the previous months. Meanwhile, Ganjar’s electability is still fluctuating and in April it has decreased.

“The reward has had its ups and downs. There is a dynamic in canceling the U-20 World Cup. But don’t forget that the reward has just been declared, there is a potential for the reward to now go up,” he said.

Respondents to the Poltracking Indonesia survey are Indonesian citizens aged 17 years and over. The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with respondents.

The sample selection was carried out through a multistage random sampling method. With this technique, a sample of 1,220 respondents was taken. The survey’s margin of error is within ±2.9% at the 95 percent confidence level.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Political Indicators survey in February-March 2023 showed the opposite result. Ganjar’s electability is still the highest.

In the presidential election simulation with three names, Ganjar took the highest position with 36.8 percent of the vote, followed by Prabowo Subianto (27 percent) and Anies Baswedan (26.8 percent).

Then, Polmark’s survey showed that Ganjar’s electability during January-March was the highest among other presidential candidates. Ganjar won the most votes, reaching 22.8 percent, followed by Prabowo (17.4 percent), Anies (3.9 percent), Ridwan Kamil (5.2 percent) and a number of other figures.
