Postponed the wedding of Volendam singer Maribelle

Maribelle Kwakman (62) and her boyfriend Nicolaas Streefkerk (55) are not doing well on all fronts. And this, while they seemed to have been very lucky in the last couple of years. After their divorce in 2016, an unexpected reconciliation took place two years ago, which the couple living together in Ibiza would like to see crowned with another butter note. “We’re getting married,” Nicholas told Story. And they had other plans: last year they were busy expanding their bed and breakfast. ‘The difference with the past is that our guests will no longer sleep in our house, but in the studio apartments that we are building separately from our house. We will deal with this in the near future.’

But now everything is in danger. “We postponed our wedding,” Nicolaas tells Story. ‘The plan was to get married on January 28 in the town hall of Edam-Volendam. But we have decided not to let it continue. We think it would be nice to choose a time when the sun is shining. In the Netherlands, this certainty is a little less. That’s why we get married in Ibiza. How, what, where and when, we don’t know yet. The only sure thing is that the legal marriage will take place in The Hague. This has to be done in the Netherlands, because we are Dutch. It will be very small, with only witnesses. We still don’t know who they are. But the ceremony and party will take place in Ibiza. This will be in the fall of 2023. Then the worst crowds on the island have passed, but the weather is still very good. It will be a great celebration with all our family and friends from the Netherlands.’ Nicolaas and Maribelle have not yet found a suitable location in Ibiza. ‘There are 54 beaches to choose from, but then you also have to book the associated catering. We will take a look at what attracts us the most. But there will definitely be a wedding.’
