Sofia passed away at age 5

The farewell of a mother of her 5-year-old daughter who died of cancer, on the 29th, is moving the web. Michele Thomasini used her Facebook profile to write a text for Sofia Thomasini Mendes. She had been hospitalized since June 10 at Hospital Regina, in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, struggling with leukemia. Michele told how it was when she authorized the suspension of the drugs that kept the girl alive.
“MOURNING NIGHT. It’s so cold tonight, the hardest of our lives! Seeing your blood pressure dropping slowly and not having anything Mom or the medical team could do to save you was too much for me. Authorizing the doctor to turn it off the drugs that kept your heart beating were a tough decision, but I realized that I had to accept,” says an excerpt of the text, which by early Thursday afternoon had received nearly four thousand reactions.
Then, she remembers the exact moment when she had to say goodbye to Sofia: “When your heart stopped beating at 01:29h, mom and dad were together by your side and I had already managed to say, or rather, repeat everything. that I always told you: that you are wonderful, kind, polite to the extreme, affectionate, courageous and strong, that I am proud of you, daughter and that I love you from here to there, the dindo Alex. Here is a video record of a night that was also cold but close together, with love warming us, with the sound in our ears like we liked to do”.
During Sofia’s hospitalization, the family even campaigned for blood and platelet donations. The girl was diagnosed when having a blood count and finding blasts, which characterize leukemia.
