Executive Director of Indonesian Political Parameters (PPI) Adi Prayitno said the two names in question were possibly BUMN Minister Erick Thohir and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa.
Adi said that Erick Thohir had long been associated with accompanying Prabowo. According to Adi, there are a number of reasons why Erick Thohir has a great chance of having a duet with Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election.
“Firstly, because of the electability factor. Second, because Erick is said to be considered to have a smooth palace code. In fact, on several occasions, the closeness of Prabowo and Erick plus Jokowi has been linked to Jokowi’s blessing with the duet between the two,” Adi told reporters, Friday (29/9/2023).
So what about the chances of a Prabowo-Khofifah duet? Adi said that Khofifah was the answer to Prabowo’s weakness when he lost in the two previous editions of the presidential election.
“Khofifah is the answer to Prabowo’s weakness so far, who lost the presidential election twice. In the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, Prabowo was weak in Tatim and NU circles. To cover it all, Khofifah is the answer,” said Adi.
Adi also touched on the chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto. According to him, Airlangga wants to go because Golkar has given support to Prabowo for the 2024 presidential election. Will Golkar leave the coalition supporting Prabowo?
“By simple logic they should leave. Only ‘big powers’ can make Golkar continue with Prabowo even though Airlangga is not the vice presidential candidate,” he added.
As is known, presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has not yet decided on his cawapres for the 2024 presidential election. However, so far the cawapres has narrowed down to 2 names.
This was revealed when Prabowo met with a number of East Java NU ulama, gus and kiai in Surabaya, East Java. Muhammad Abdurrahman Kautsar or Gus Kautsar said that at the meeting two names of the strongest vice presidential candidates to accompany Prabowo were discussed.
“What he (Prabowo) mentioned was only two names, I think. But (Prabowo) didn’t specifically mention the names,” said Gus Kautsar after meeting Prabowo at the Shangri-la Hotel in Surabaya, as reported by detikJatim, Thursday (28/9).
The media crew mentioned more specifically the names of Prabowo’s vice presidential candidates, one of whom is East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa. Gus Kautsar said there was no specific name.
Even so, Gus Kautsar said that on that occasion Prabowo said that one of the vice presidential candidates being considered was Khofifah Indar Parawansa. However, Khofifah’s appointment awaits blessing from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“Yes, he (Prabowo) explained that one of the names of several vice presidential candidates he would invite was that (Khofifah), but he would definitely wait for the blessing of Pak Jokowi and the kiai later,” he said.
