Portugal registers 204 more cases and eight more deaths from Covid-19 – O Jornal Económico

Portugal has a total of 51,072 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 204 more than the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released this Friday, July 31. The number of fatalities from the new coronavirus in the country increased to 1,735, which corresponds to eight more deaths in the last 24 hours.

The epidemiological bulletin released this afternoon indicates that, to date, 442,088 suspected cases have been recorded and 1,650 people are still awaiting the results of Covid-19’s laboratory analysis. There are currently 389,366 unconfirmed cases after the analyzes, and 35,757 are under surveillance by health authorities.

DGS reveals that there are currently 18,675 cases registered in the North, 4,439 in the Center, 26,067 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 883 in the Algarve, 168 cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 106 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and 734 cases in the Alentejo.

Currently, there are 381 hospitalized, of which 41 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 36,483 cases recovered in Portugal, 343 more than those recorded yesterday.

The total of 1,735 deaths, 828 were in the North, 252 in the Center, 604 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 15 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores, 21 in the Alentejo, with none being recorded in Madeira.

The DGS bulletin counts three female fatal victims and one male victim between the ages of 30 and 39, joining the two fatal victims, female and male, between the ages of 20 and 29, and there are currently six confirmed deaths below 40 years old.

There are also 10 female and 10 male fatalities between the ages of 40 and 49 years old. There were 38 male and 17 female victims in the 50 to 59 age group, 106 male and 60 male victims and 48 female victims, 207 male deaths and 130 female deaths between 70 and the 79 years. There are also 504 male victims and 659 female victims over 80 years of age.

The age group with the most confirmed cases is 40 to 49 years old (3,792 men and 4,679 women), with a total of 8,471, followed by 50 to 59 years old (3,322 men and 4,413 women), in a total of 7,735. There are 4,139 infected children and adolescents between 0 and 19 years of age. There are currently 22,787 men and 28,285 women infected with the new coronavirus.

The number of cases in the age groups between 30 and 39 years and 60 and 69 years has seen increases. The DGS bulletin assumes the existence of 3,959 men and 4,379 women infected between 30 and 39 years old, and 2,419 men and 2,700 women with confirmed cases between 60 and 69 years old. There are currently 3,935 women and 1,892 men over the age of 80 infected with Covid-19.

The age group between 20 and 29 years of age has also seen a considerable increase in positive cases, with 3,623 men and 4,196 women with positive cases to date. The age group between 70 and 79 years old checks 1,671 men and 1,877 infected women. There are 44 men and 32 women whose age is unknown.

In relation to symptoms, the most reported are coughing (35%), fever (28%), muscle pain (21%), headache (20%), generalized weakness (14%) and breathing difficulties (10%).
