Politics. What works and projects will be carried out in 2021?

In addition to the consequences of the health crisis on the 2021 budget of the City, the Thionville elected officials discussed, Monday, November 30, the works and achievements to be financed in 2021.

Urban planning

Next year will see the development of Place Sainte-Anne and the renovation of the top of the Côte-des-Roses district. A hospital hotel will be hosted next to the Bel-Air hospital and a route of differentiated and vegetated public spaces will be created. As part of the work planned for the Zac Rive Gauche, the City plans to leave the NEST site on site, which must be completely rebuilt. The first works and the necessary studies will be continued for the start of the Right Bank urbanization project for a total of 145,000 €. The creation of Place Simone-Veil, the revegetation of Quai Crauser into an urban park, and the resumption of Place Saint-Maximin and rue de la Poterne will be finalized. Other urban developments are planned in various districts: the parking lot of the Vieille-Porte, the Urban Partnership Project of the Malgrange and the continuation of the work in the courtyard of Rome, at a cost of 350,000 €. A budget will also be devoted to the transformation of the workers’ campsite (€ 130,000) in order to organize the reception of motorhomes during major events.

Environment and ecology

“Still with a view to placing the ecological transition at the heart of urban development, the development of the Cycling Plan will continue, as well as the complete development (€ 350,000) of the water route in Volkrange, 80% funded, and the continuation of the € 200,000 development of the Crève-Coeur belvedere ”, explains the mayor. As a first step, the eight existing cycle paths will be renovated by optimizing safety through road markings and vertical signage. Following the renovation of track n ° 3 between Bel-Air and the SNCF station, work will be carried out on track 2 between the route de Guentrange and the route des Romains.

Sports and leisures

The work of the municipal gymnasium and the Jean-Burger room will always represent the biggest investment: more than 4.8 M € will be devoted to this phase which will end in 2022. The City also plans to fit out the first floor of the former La Scala cinema as a recording studio, in addition to the layout of the ground floor as a conference room. The renovation and expansion of the Garche room will be completed in 2021 to offer its users a more functional multipurpose room. This expansion will also make it possible to rehouse two associations currently located in this village and that of Kœking.
