Polio Sub-Week Immunization Launch in Klaten: 123,000 Children Targeted

Klaten: Around 123,000 children aged 0-7 years in Klaten Regency, Central Java, are targeted for the national polio immunization sub-week (PIN) which will start January 15 2024.

Meanwhile, health workers are ready to implement the polio sub-PIN in Klaten Regency, whether held at community health centers, posyandu, as well as kindergarten, PAUD and elementary schools.

Acting Head of the Klaten Health Service, Anggit Budiarto, said that implementation of the polio sub-PIN will start on January 15 2024 at 07.30 WIB.

“All 34 community health centers at 07.30 WIB have opened immunization services. The launch of the polio sub-PIN is planned at the Polanharjo Community Health Center at 09.00 WIB,” said Anggit in Klaten, Saturday, January 13 2024.

The launch of the polio sub-PIN at the Polanharjo Community Health Center (Klaten) will be carried out by the Central Java Provincial Health Service, and will be attended by the Provincial PKK and Regent Sri Mulyani.

Regarding the logistics of the polio sub-PIN in Klaten, Anggit Budiarto revealed that the logistics were ready for the implementation of the immunization week for 123,000 children aged 0-7 years 11 months and 29 days.

“For the polio sub-PIN in Klaten, we had enough health workers and it was completed in one week. Because we received extraordinary support from the sub-district heads and village heads/ward heads,” he explained.

Regarding the target of the polio sub-PIN in Klaten, according to the Acting Head of the Health Service, by name by address 123.00 children are clear. They are spread across 34 health centers in Klaten Regency.

When the child polio case was confirmed in Manisrenggo, Anggit said the child in question was still undergoing physiotherapy twice a week at the Manisrenggo Community Health Center.

“Children with polio cases in Manisrenggo are now starting to be able to stand with crutches, and are scheduled for control in one month at Dr Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta,” he said.
