Police union spreads images of arrest 17-year-old r … (Interior)

Brussels / Schaerbeek –

The police union VSOA shared images on Sunday evening of the arrest of the 17-year-old Brussels resident who was also arrested a week earlier during the riots in Blankenberge. A knife was said to have been drawn during that arrest. “Again a representation of the reality in which police officers have to work in the Brussels-Capital Region.”

On Friday evening, the police in Schaerbeek arrested a 17-year-old Brussels resident who behaved aggressively towards a few police officers. At the time, the police were present at the Liedtsplein for a traffic check when a young man began to provoke them. When the officers wanted to conduct an identity check, he reacted aggressively. “The man opposed that and called on bystanders to help him,” said Willemien Baert of the Brussels public prosecutor’s office in response to the incident.

During the arrest, the two officers were injured. The police union VSOA has now posted images of that arrest on their Facebook page. “On Friday evening, a police patrol in Schaerbeek wanted to check on a young man who started calling them names. Immediately, colleagues are surrounded and attacked by “young people”.

The suspect was able to break free in all the fuss and ran. One of the colleagues received a knife stab in his bulletproof vest during this intervention ”, it says. “Police officers try to intercept the suspect and are immediately chased and attacked by ‘young people’. Once again a representation of the reality in which police officers have to work in the Brussels-Capital Region ”, it sounds.

The 17-year-old was eventually arrested and had to appear before the juvenile judge. That placed him in an open setting.
