Police sources: Man found beaten to death in Brooklyn park

NEW YORK — A man was found in a Queens park after apparently being beaten to death, law enforcement sources said.

The unidentified man, believed to be in his 50s, was found by officers after an assault near Jamaica Avenue y Cleveland Street in the neighborhood Cypress Hills, according to the police. It was found towards the north end of Hamilton Parknear some handball courts, sources told our sister network NBC New York.

The victim suffered injuries to his face and police sources said he had apparently been beaten. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, police said, and was later pronounced dead.

Police were waiting for family to be notified before sharing the victim’s identity. No arrests have been made yet. An investigation is ongoing.
