Police respond to incident at MillerCoors headquarters in Milwaukee

Police have reacted on Wednesday to a “critical incident” at the headquarters of the Molson Coors brewing company in Milwaukee, in what is reported as a possible shooting, according to the news agency The Associated Press.

WISN-TV in Milwaukee reported that a Molson Coors employee received an email about an armed attacker near one of the buildings.

The Office of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said on Twitter that was answering to a shooting in the Molson Coors building.

Company spokesman Martin Maloney said there was a “active situation”, but had no more details.

There was a strong police presence in the area around 4000 State Street, along with fire trucks and ambulances, the chain’s subsidiary reported NBC in Chicago.

The police have asked the public to “please stay away from the area.”

Lasonya Ragdales, an employee of the brewing company who was texting from inside the building to her husband, James Boyles, said there was an armed attacker and that she was locked in a room with a group of co-workers, the diary Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Molson acquired the Miller Coors brewery in 2016 and announced last year that it would change the brand name to Molson Coors. The change was also part of a corporate restructuring that transferred hundreds of jobs from Denver to Milwaukee, in a cost reduction measure, reported NBC.
