Police Reinstate Manual Ticketing in Jakarta Amid Caution Against Extortion

Jakarta

The police reinstated manual ticket. Deputy Chairman of Commission III DPR RI Ahmad Sahroni cautioned against extortion.

“Regarding the manual ticket, review it again after it is stopped. I ask for it to be reinstated to give sanctions to people who violate the rules,” said Sahroni when contacted, Tuesday (16/5/2023).

According to the NasDem politician, when there were no manual tickets, many motorists would break the rules. Sahroni also asked the National Police Chief, Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to immediately fire police officers if they were found to be extortion.

“I’m only ordering traffic officers if they commit extortion and it’s proven, I ask the National Police chief to fire them immediately,” he said.

The National Police have again implemented manual ticketing in a number of areas. The National Police said there were a number of things that made the on-site ticket apply again.

“The National Police Chief (General Listyo Sigit Prabowo) has given directions to the regional police to carry out or strengthen law enforcement in the traffic sector, by imposing fines on the spot,” said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho told reporters, Monday (15/5).

One of the causes of manual ticketing being reinstated is the limited infrastructure for electronic ticketing or e-TLE in a number of areas.

“Enforcement of traffic violations with a manual ticket system is enforced in areas that have not been covered or not covered by the e-TLE system. Manual fines are carried out for road users who are caught red-handed by officers when committing traffic violations,” Sandi explained.
