On the BBC Antiques roadshow, BBC One’s Between Art and Kitsch, a unique book emerged this week with 2,500 police photographs of refugees who arrived in Cardiff during the First World War. Among them are many Antwerp residents, who were often wrongly suspected of espionage by the police. “An interesting register, certainly representative with the photos,” responds researcher Christophe Declercq, affiliated with Utrecht University.
