A Dutch police motard was hit head-on on Friday evening in De Stropersstraat in Stekene. He was seriously injured.

The accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. A 24-year-old driver of a Porsche coming from the direction of Stekene wanted to turn left into the driveway of the well-known catering business The Lakehouse. In as yet unclear circumstances, the driver from Sint-Gillis-Waas did not notice a Dutch police motard coming from the direction of Hulst. The officer was hit head-on and was thrown from his motorcycle. He hit a parked car. The victim suffered serious injuries and was in life-threatening condition on Friday evening. Emergency services arrived en masse.
