Police Investigate Gang of Thieves Using ‘Slide Bag’ Mode at Restaurant in South Jakarta

Police are still investigating the gang of thieves ‘slide bag’ mode at a restaurant in the Jeruk Purut area, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta (Jaksel). The police estimate the number of this criminal gang.

“Allegedly four men are under investigation,” said Pasar Minggu Police Chief, Kompol Rusit Malacca to reporters, Saturday (12/5/2023).

Rusit hasn’t said much about the characteristics of the four perpetrators. He said his team was still hunting for the perpetrators.

“At that time we saw the four of them on CCTV,” Rusit said.

The theft occurred around 14.08 WIB, last Thursday (11/5). He said the investigation was still ongoing even though until now the victim had not made a report.

“Yes, automatically if one car is connected to them, our gang will continue to investigate and arrest,” he added.

Previously, a video recording the actions of a gang of thieves at a restaurant in the Jeruk Purut area, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta (Jaksel), went viral on social media. The perpetrators were seen wearing neat clothes.

In the video seen by detik.com, Friday (12/5), the victim who is narrated in the middle of a meeting and eating is seen sitting in the chair at the far end. He put his black duffel bag under the table.

The victim and his colleagues had asked to be photographed by a restaurant waiter. The atmosphere in the restaurant also seemed crowded with visitors.

A man wearing a white patterned shirt and black trousers is seen standing near the victim’s table. He looked as if he was on the phone when the victim and his colleagues posed for a photo.

After taking the photo, the man appeared to be shifting the victim’s bag using his feet. However, the action failed and the victim’s bag did not move far.

Then, another man wearing a plain white shirt also shifted the victim’s bag using his feet. The perpetrator shifted the victim’s bag to the back of the chair.

When carrying out the action, another perpetrator who was wearing a black shirt walked next to the white shirt man while shifting the victim’s bag. Then, the perpetrator in the black shirt took and carried away the victim’s bag from behind the victim.

Shortly thereafter, the victim realized that her backpack had disappeared. The video narrates that the victim suffered a loss by losing a laptop, cash and documents and letters.
