Police have seized 32 bicycles and are looking for their rightful owners – Criminal – News

The man had bought the bicycle on the advertisement portal. According to the features of the bicycle, the victim recognized it as his own, which was stolen from him in the territory served by Ķengarags.

Continuing the criminal investigation into the theft of bicycles, law enforcement officers found that the man, who was born in 1981, was buying up bicycles.

Another 32 bicycles were found and removed from him, the origin of which is currently being explained by law enforcement. It should be noted that the man voluntarily handed over these 32 bicycles to the police for inspection and a departmental inspection was started.

On the same day, a man born in 1987 was arrested in Riga, Vaidavas Street. A bicycle was found next to the man, which he handed to the police officers for inspection. The detainee also explained that he had previously stolen this bicycle in the area served by Teika.

Criminal proceedings were initiated in this case pursuant to Section 175, Paragraph three of the Criminal Law – for theft if committed by entering the premises. The owner of this bike has been identified. An authorized search was also carried out at the detained residence, during which law enforcement officers found pliers, as well as a snapped bicycle safety chain and a stranger’s passport.

The man has previously been convicted 13 times of similar crimes. During the investigation, the law enforcement officers found out that the detainee had stolen bicycles in Riga and its surroundings, Sigulda and Jurmala. At present, the man has confessed to three bicycle thefts, two of them have worked in the territory served by the Kengarags district.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against a man pursuant to Section 175, Paragraph one of the Criminal Law – theft. Such a crime is punishable by law – up to two years’ imprisonment or temporary deprivation of liberty, or forced labor, or a fine.

Yesterday, the court remanded the detainee in custody.
