Police hand out over a hundred tickets at several illegal parties | NOW

The police ended several illegal parties from Saturday night to Sunday morning. Officers handed out over a hundred tickets at parties in the North Holland towns of Velserbroek and Haarlemmerliede. An illegal rave party in Weert also had to be closed on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. In Utrecht, agents stopped a meeting of a large group of young people in the Griftpark.

The police say they are taking strict action against illegal parties. In Weert, the mobile unit intervened after several reports of noise nuisance. About a hundred partygoers were present at a shed on Vliesvenweg.

According to local media, it was about a rave party with participants from France and Belgium. A police spokesman says there were at least people from Germany and Belgium. She did not yet know whether French were also participating.

Code orange applies in Belgium and code red in France. The spokesman could not say whether the partygoers should be quarantined.

How many fines will be handed out is still unclear. The police action is still underway.

Bunker party in Noord-Holland stopped

The police also stopped an illegal party with dozens of visitors at a bunker in Velserbroek on Saturday night, the police reports in a press release. Agents hand out fines to as many attendees as possible.

Later in the evening, the police also threw a spanner in the works at another illegal party, this time in Haarlemmerliede. More than twenty visitors will be fined.

The police say they have handed out more than a hundred fines for both North Holland parties.

Young people in Utrecht create nuisance

At the Griftpark in Utrecht, “a large group” of young people also caused nuisance on Saturday evening, a spokesman said. A number of them got a ticket because they did not comply with the corona rules. The spokesman could not say how many young people and fines it concerns.

In Utrecht it was anyway restless for the second night in a row, write local media. After the nationally mandatory closure of the catering industry at 10 p.m., there would have been long queues for supermarkets in the center. One supermarket would have closed earlier, because the corona rules could no longer be enforced. The municipality could not yet confirm this to NU.nl.
