On the beach of Sint-Anneke, on the Scheldt on the Left Bank, a brawl arose between a group of young people aged 15 to 20 years old on Tuesday afternoon. According to witnesses, fifty to sixty young people gathered around the incident, how many people were actually involved in the fight is not clear.

After the call, the Antwerp police rushed en masse to ‘de plage’. “We have not been able to establish any criminal offenses,” said spokesman Wouter Bruyns. “Our people are fully engaged in identifying potential stakeholders.” For the time being no one has been arrested administratively, and no injuries have been reported.
“I was at work when I suddenly heard a tumult,” says witness Kris Bollekens, who works in restaurant De Zeester on the dike. “A large group of young people had come to blows. The police arrived en masse, but by then the brawl was already over. I think they still issued fines for people without a mouth mask and for people who were swimming in the Scheldt. ”
