Police fires shots at speedel Berkel-Enschot detention

With great difficulty, the Brabant police arrested a motorist this afternoon who was driving at high speed between Tilburg and Berkel-Enschot.

The police used a helicopter to find out the man and fired warning shots when the driver threatened to run away.

Undiminished speed

“The man drove 180 to 200 kilometers per hour,” says a police spokeswoman Broadcasting Brabant. The driving style of the driver already stood out in Tilburg, from where he was driving at high speed in the direction of Kaatsheuvel. There he ignored a stop sign from the police and jeered further along an inner road in the direction of Berkel-Enschot. Maximum speeds of 50, 60 and 80 kilometers per hour apply on site.

The police pursued not only with cars but also from the air. “A helicopter happened to be in the area,” says the spokeswoman. On the Hoolstraat in Berkel-Enschot, the speed devil could be brought to a halt.

Warning shots
The driver got out and tried to run away, whereupon officers fired warning shots. The man was arrested and taken to the desk. He also appeared to have a large amount of cash with him. According to the spokeswoman, further investigation into the man is being initiated.
