jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Chinese drug convict Cai Changpan alias Cai Ji Fan first stole a cellmate’s cellphone before escaping from the Tangerang Class I Prison.
“Information from a cellmate, he said that the suspect had run away and even had time to bring his cellphone,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus at Mako Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday (30/9).
Furthermore, Yusri said, currently the joint team was still pursuing the field and continued to carry out analysis and evaluation of the progress of the investigation results and the information collected.
“Until now, the team is still on the ground pursuing those concerned, but every day we analyze and evaluate the development of the situation,” he added.
Yusri said Polda Metro Jaya had formed a special team to hunt down Cai Changpan.
However, Yusri cannot reveal what steps the police team has taken, because these are part of the police investigation technique.
Cai Changpan is known to have fled from the Class 1 Tangerang Prison on Monday (14/9) by digging a tunnel and leaving the prison.
The results of the preliminary investigation by Polda Metro Jaya revealed that Cai Changpan had planned his escape by digging tunnels for the past six months.
