Documents and testimonies accuse them. The reason is the alleged targeting in favor of a single company – linked to a police member – in the purchase of 20 thousand N95 masks destined to the agents of the Directorate of the Air Police.
This led to the capture of the head of this unit, General Alfredo Andrés Vildoso Rojas, and four other officers during an operation of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and agents of the High Complexity Research Division.
During the expert opinion that the specialists of the Public Ministry carried out, it was shown that the masks did not correspond to the technical requirements and that General Vildoso was aware of this, according to a source from the Public Ministry.
While the quarantine lasted (from March 16 to June 30), anti-corruption prosecutors received 27 complaints for alleged acts of corruption linked to the National Police for the irregular purchase of bioseguriad products such as masks, gloves, alcohol gel and others.
As a result of the investigations, on August 19, the Prosecutor’s Office captured a commander and four non-commissioned officers from the Lambayeque Police Region for the irregular purchase of biosecurity elements for an amount that exceeds one million 200 thousand soles.
CORRUPTION CHAIN
Among those arrested, apart from General Vildoso Rojas, are Commanders Óscar Arones Canova, head of the Air Safety Division; Omar Puente Auccapoma, head of the Logistics Area; Ensign Pool Olórtegui Yauli, Head of the Contracting Area; Lieutenant Leonardo Oblitas Bozovich, former Chief of Logistics. Lawyer Miguel Vásquez Neyra was also detained.
The judicial measure of detention against the five officers of the Diravpol for 15 days was directed by the provincial prosecutor Francisco Alarcón Solís, of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes of Corruption of Officials of Callao. This included the search of eight homes.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, each one would have participated in a criminal plan aimed at arranging and directing a direct contracting process in favor of the supplier company Ka’linson Perú SAC.
Said company would have served as a front in the aforementioned process, since the masks it sold to Diravpol would be the same ones that it bought from a third party through the company Bozovich y Asociados Safety SAC, whose partners are Lieutenant Oblitas, his brother and the mother of both.
In this regard, the police command, through a statement, reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the Public Ministry in the investigations it carries out in cases of crimes against the public administration that involve police personnel.
