police arrested 185 extinction rebellion activists

Police arrested 185 activists from the Extinction Rebellion movement on Saturday at the Brussels Motor Show. Activists have conducted dozens of actions at various stands of automobile brands to demand a “other mobility model“in the face of the climate emergency.

Despite the large police force deployed at the Auto Show, the activists of Extinction Rebellion attracted everyone’s attention on Saturday afternoon. Some climbed onto a platform at the main entrance to replace car advertising with an Extinction Rebellion banner that read: “Stop CO2 emissions“.

Other actions were then organized in the palaces of Brussels Expo. Activists have chained themselves at the wheel of the cars on display and others have “tagged“vehicles. At Peugeot, some models have been sprayed with fake blood.

False fines were also placed on the windshields of cars parked in parking lot C.

Then the activists lay on the ground pretending to be dead.

The police systematically arrested all the activists.
