The police have arrested a motorist tonight for dangerous driving behavior on Dam Square and Nieuwezijds Voorbugwal. The man was stopped and arrested on the Muntplein. The motorist was possibly under the influence of laughing gas. Nobody was injured.

The incident was reported at around 6.50 pm. The man was carrying laughing gas and balloons. The police therefore assume that he was under the influence of laughing gas.
‘People really had to run away from the motorist at Dam Square,’ says a police spokesman. “This created a very dangerous situation.”
The man’s driving behavior has caused damage in several places. Two witnesses report AT5 that a motorist on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal had knocked down several posts tonight.
The police confirm that poles have been knocked over. It is not yet known whether there has been more damage on the street.
