Police announce cause of death of 39 Vietnamese in containers
Over three months after the death of 39 Vietnamese in a refrigerated truck, the UK police have announced the cause of death. According to the preliminary post-mortem report, people died of “a combination” of lack of oxygen and overheating.
The Essex police said on Tuesday. All post-mortems are complete. “We are waiting for the final reports for all 39 victims,” it said.
The police also said that two other arrests had been made in the course of the investigation. Several suspects are already in custody, including the 25-year-old truck driver from Northern Ireland. He is accused of homicide in 39 cases, as well as a conspiracy to commit human trafficking and money laundering.
