“Active lunch break” in front of the Recklinghausen police headquarters

Police officers and firefighters in the Recklinghausen district are dissatisfied. Like all other public sector employees, they demand more money. 10.5 percent more – but at least 500 euros. The employers have not yet made any offers in the collective bargaining negotiations. Around 100 police officers demonstrated on Monday afternoon in front of the police headquarters on Westerholter Weg in Recklinghausen during an “active lunch break”. The wage increase is particularly important for police officers, says the chairman of the police union in the Recklinghausen district, Norbert Sperling:

“In the typical average groupings you can talk about a salary of 1,800 euros. And that for a service to the population, without which nothing would work.”

Collective bargaining in the public sector: large demonstration in Düsseldorf

During the demonstration, the police also expressly supported the fire department. The state government is also planning to increase the age limit to 62 years. They say that this is not reasonable for such a physically demanding job. A big demo is planned in Düsseldorf on December 5th.
