It’s not the poor and unemployed who make it easy for themselves, but the Chancellor of the Republic

Vienna (OTS) It is a familiar scene in which Chancellor Nehammer’s current video takes place: a privileged circle, mostly men. The topics that the Chancellor presents to this apparently tight-knit audience in a sociable and familiar tone also fit in with this: women who no longer know what their duty is, unemployed people who lead a fun life at “our” expense and social partners – yes, too the economic representatives – which caused nothing but difficulties and would be a burden on the legs of these supposedly dynamic politicians. And, actually above all: left-wing alternative government partners with whom nothing meaningful would progress and who couldn’t be friends anyway.

“Actually, we should all treat these outpourings as what they are: unnecessary poison,” says Marion Polaschek, chairwoman of the Independent Trade Union Group in the ÖGB. “But this poison has been regularly injected into different parts of our society in recurring and higher doses for decades and that makes it a real threat to our peaceful coexistence,” she is certain and adds: “One cannot shake the impression that “It is obviously intended to play people off against each other under all circumstances, to stir up discord and dissatisfaction, instead of working together with everyone who lives here, regardless of all their differences, on the challenges of our times.”

“It’s probably more convenient and requires less vision and courage,” she notes. “Alternative, left-wing, social and human actors of all worldviews are making far more effort in their efforts for a good life for everyone. They simply know that living together means active commitment and work, as in all successful relationships,” she is certain and concludes: “Those who accuse the unemployed and people at risk of poverty of making things easy for themselves and at the same time propagate cheap simplifications and simple concepts , which is the real brake on positive progress and general prosperity and probably has no answers to the pressing questions of our time.”
