The scooter, driven by Pol Romain, 81 years old and emblematic figure of Comblain since he was the butcher of the village, thus collided head-on with the van. The octogenarian was then thrown onto the windshield of the van and then bounced off a car that was stopped at the intersection. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services and the SMUR doctor, the octogenarian died instantly.
Pol Romain, 81, was the former butcher of Comblain-au-Pont. He ran the butcher’s shop at 29 Place Leblanc, which he then handed over to his son, Jean-Marc, who has since ceased his activities.
