Mainz-Finthen (ots)

Already on Thursday, November 17, 2022, a 75-year-old woman from Mainz-Finthen was the victim of a well-known courier scam. The woman received a message from an unknown number. The previously unknown author or authors suggest to the woman that the sender of the message is her daughter. This is in a presumed emergency situation and is asking for financial support. The woman from Mainz then transfers a low four-digit amount to an account sent to her by the authors. That same evening, the 75-year-old received a call from her “real” daughter and the fraud was discovered. Fortunately the transfer can be recovered, which means that the woman does not suffer any economic damage and gets away with horror.
