PlayStation VR2 could come with a stunning movie mode?!

TECH NEWS – Ahead of the PlayStation VR2 product launch, Sony has detailed the VR headset’s stunning cinematic mode for PlayStation 5 games.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has published an official FAQ detailing the features of the PlayStation VR2. Among them, he singles out the impressive cinematic mode for PlayStation 5 players. The PS VR2 is coming towards the end of the month with an amazing amount of features and a diverse launch lineup of first and third party games.

The PlayStation VR2 is Sony’s next foray into VR gaming after the successful first-generation PlayStation VR headset.

The PS VR2 headset leverages the technical capabilities of the PlayStation 5 to deliver vivid, high-refresh-rate gaming at a resolution of 2000×2040 per eye. Gamers control PlayStation VR2 games with the all-new Sense controllers, which include DualSense features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. PS VR2’s launch lineup includes brand new games such as Horizon Call of the Mountain and Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue. VR support is also available for existing PlayStation 5 games, including Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil Village. The PS VR 2’s list price of $549.99 costs more than a PlayStation 5 console. But the headset could prove to be a real generational leap for Sony’s VR gaming efforts on release day.

Sony has released the “ultimate” PlayStation VR2 FAQ. In it, he reveals new details about viewing methods. Among other things, about the returning movie mode. Gamers can enjoy PS VR2 game content in VR mode, which displays a maximum resolution of 2000×2040 per eye with HD support and a refresh rate between 90Hz and 120Hz. In movie mode, players can enjoy non-VR game and media content on a virtual movie screen. Video content can be displayed in cinema mode in 1080p resolution with HDR support and a refresh rate of 24Hz-60Hz. PS VR2 supports a 120Hz refresh rate for PlayStation 5 games when playing in motion mode.

PlayStation 5 sound and image are only displayed in movie mode through the PS VR2 headset: this is because there is no output from the TV side, as the image is displayed directly in the headset.

As a result, cinematic mode is aimed at viewing video and game content independently.

Cinematic mode is beneficial for PS VR2 players who want to take a break from moving around in VR. This way they can have a relaxing, cinema-like experience. In addition, cinematic mode is a great way for players to catch up on the latest first-party PlayStation 5 releases, such as God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West.

PlayStation VR2 launches on February 22nd, and you can choose from over 30 launch window titles. Sony is likely to add VR2 support to more PlayStation 5 games in the near future as it develops new titles. Third-party studios like Capcom and Hello Games are no strangers to PlayStation VR2 hardware. The future of the new VR headset already looks bright.
