The new generation of the Lada Niva SUV, which still carries the Chevrolet nameplate, will be presented in the 1st quarter of 2023. This was reported by Gazeta.ru with reference to its own sources and information on the conclusion of a transaction with one of the Croatian suppliers.
In June, the newspaper writes, the Croatian AvtoVAZ supplier AD Plastik Group entered into an agreement with the manufacturer Lada to supply plastic exterior elements for the new Niva model. The contract is designed for ten years: from 2023 to 2033. The transaction amount is about 58 million euros.
AD Plastik Group will launch the production of external components for Niva: skirts for bumpers, wheel arch housings, shock absorbers, rear wing protectors, side covers, grille and other plastic elements.

Recall that the joint venture GM-AvtoVAZ was preparing the second generation of the Chevrolet Niva, and in 2014 the concept of an SUV was presented at MIAS, but due to the disruption of the construction of facilities for the production of new items, the project was closed. AvtoVAZ will be the reanimation of an archaic SUV after the repurchase of a stake in GM.
The new Niva generation will be presented almost simultaneously with the new Lada 4×4, which is also scheduled for release in 2023. Cars will create competition within the brand, and secondly, SUVs will impose a struggle and Renault Duster, which will lead to competition within the global alliance.
Another problem is the inevitable price increase for Niva, the demand for which is more or less maintained due to the affordable cost of purchase and ownership. This, along with the likely loss of the status of a full-fledged SUV, may scare off some customers, but for now it is too early to draw any conclusions.
