It was recently announced that Margot Robbie will take the lead in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film. But unfortunately not all fans of the franchise like that.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise was largely shaped by Johnny Depp’s iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow, who always has everything under control in his chaotic way. Although the current fifth part of the series, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge” did not necessarily bring Disney the desired success, the series has not yet been told.

It has recently been surprisingly announced that Margot Robbie will star in one of the next films. This is supposed to be about pirates and Robbie could embody the pirate Redd. But as comicbook.com reports, fans of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series are rather split on this news. On the one hand, there is great joy that the actress, who most recently convinced with her roles as Harley Quinn in “Birds of Prey: The Emancipation of Harley Quinn” and as Sharon Tate in “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood”, is now also part of the successful Disney franchise will:
„I never thought that Disney could somehow pique my interest in a new ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film, but here we are now, ”Will Mavity wrote on Twitter.
I literally did not think there was anything Disney could do to make me even marginally interested in a new Pirates of the Caribbean film, yet here we are https://t.co/ek6Vd3lhbm

Other fans in the series were also pleasantly surprised by this news: “’Pirates of the Caribbean’ is one of my favorite franchises and now Margot is becoming part of it. I love to win, ”Twitter user Annabel posted on the platform.

But not all fans of the film series like it that a film without Johnny Depp should come to the cinemas. Dena wrote on Twitter: “I mean, I love Margot Robbie so much, but Johnny Depp helped create ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. You can’t just ignore the fact that Johnny Depp is the reason why a lot of people watch the movies. ”
i mean i love margot robbie so much but johnny depp invented pirates of the caribbean. you can’t just simply ignore the fact that johnny depp is the reason that people watch those movies.

Another Twitter user also reacted rather negatively to this news: “I am for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, but without Johnny Depp, yes, that’s a no.”
I’m all for pirates of the Caribbean but without Johnny depp yeah that’s a no.

Johnny Depp was put in a bad light by his marriage to ex-wife Amber Heard (“Aquaman”). That could also be one of the reasons why Disney wants to distance itself from the actor. For the announced sixth part of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, Depp should slip back into the role of Jack Sparrow. In this respect, it remains to be seen whether it will stay that way.
Who is the pirate Redd?
The pirate Redd, who Margot Robbie is supposed to embody, is a figure that is particularly known for the attraction in Disneyland Paris: When the island of Isla Tesoro was conquered by pirates and the women were auctioned off, came Redd himself for the first time in contact with piracy. Her red hair became her trademark, with which she could make a name for herself among the pirates. Finally she met Captain Jack Sparrow on the Black Pearl. This encounter led to her becoming a pirate and then conquering the seas under the name Redd.
