The cameras were waiting for the big sedans of the Barça stars. They saw a bicycle launched at full speed before rushing into the underground parking lot of Camp Nou. On the two wheels, cap behind: Gerard Piqué. The captain chose an ecological and rather new means of transport among football players to go in the match against Espanyol, difficult to win (1-0).
The intention is laudable but … prohibited by the club. Barça’s rules of procedure do not allow players to cycle during the season due to the risk of injury from falling. Launched in a sprint and without a helmet, Piqué did not seem to care about these considerations when he arrived at the stadium.
It is not the first time that he has been seen on this means of transport. Mundo Deportivo remembers having seen him go to the Joan Gamper training center by bike in 2018.

Piqué held its place without incident facing Espanyol. But not sure that the leaders taste this freedom taken by their captain while there are very important deadlines for the club between the last three Liga games to be played and the knockout stages of the Champions League return against Naples (the August 7 or 8).
