[Mise à jour : Dimanche 4 octobre 2020, les organisateurs ont confirmé l’annulation de l’événement sur décision de la préfecture de Seine-Maritime, en raison des restrictions liées à la crise sanitaire du Covid-19].
The bikers will give voice to their racing car, and for a good cause, as part of the month Pink October ! The ” Pink Ride Rouen », a motorcycle parade, is organized for the first time on Saturday October 10, 2020 by l’association Racing Attitude, from Rouen (Seine-Maritime) to Saint-Jean-du-Cardonnay. The funds obtained – thanks to individual participations and the sale of objects – will be given to the Rouen association Life and Hope, which has been helping “children with leukemia or cancerous tumors, as well as their families” since 1986.
A 100% feminine event to “mark the occasion”
All audiences, men and women alike, are invited to participate in this new kind of parade. But beware, only women are allowed as pilots, men can only be passengers. “No offense to some, we actually made the choice that the event be female, as part of Pink October. It is also unique, because movements of female bikers in France, there are very few, if at all, ”explains Charlène Bachelet, member of the Racing Attitude association.
We have had reviews from men who asked us if they could come in disguise. The idea is nice but we risk ending up at Gay Pride.
To be recognized on the road, each participant will be equipped with a chasuble and will have a helium balloon on her motorcycle. The organization hopes to bring together “at least 200 people” to carry the voice of the association Vie et Espoir, which will have all the funds raised at the end of this operation.
“Fortunately they are there to help us”
If this first edition of the Pink Ride Rouen was able to see the light of day, it is largely thanks to the experience of Charlène, mother of a 6-year-old girl, suffering from a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system, neuroblastoma. It was detected in his daughter a year ago. Since then, “we have resorted to the association Vie et Espoir which helps us in all stages [médicalisées]. She also helps improve the hospital and helps us financially ”.
Because the girl, with heavy treatment, in barely a year, had to face multiple ordeals: chemotherapy and immunotherapy cures, operations or even autografts… The medical treatment was certainly reimbursed by Social Security but for the family , travel between home and hospital, as well as overnight stays, had a non-negligible cost, which was offset by financial aid from the association.
This structure, created within the pediatric pavilion of the Charles Nicolle hospital in Rouen in 1986 – and which now has a branch at the Center hospitalier du Havre – is made up entirely of volunteers. It sets up “simple” actions that bring a little balm to the heart, in the daily life of families: installation of a room for parents, deployment of teachers in the hospital or even moments of sharing between the families. children and volunteers …
“It’s very difficult to live with on a daily basis. Between parents, we talk a lot and when children die, which happens, we are impacted. When that happens, it’s hard to live with. Fortunately, associations like Life and Hope are there to help us, ”says Charlène, who hopes through this event, to express her gratitude to them.
