Dozens of scientists and astronomy enthusiasts arrived a few days ago to the region, where they set up their telescopes at the foot of the volcano “Viarica”.
After that, the eclipse crosses the Andes Mountains and is then seen in Argentina, especially in the tourist city of Bariloche in the south.
During a total eclipse, the moon lies exactly between the earth and the sun, blocking the sunlight.
The sky in Chile was cloudy, but on the Argentinian side of the Andes, the eclipse was clearly visible in many areas.
In the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, the eclipse was only visible as a partial eclipse, as the moon covered only 75% of the sun.

And in July 2019, the phenomenon led to the darkening of the pure northern Chilean sky, where a number of astronomical observatories, and about 300,000 people gathered in the middle of the Atacama desert to watch this event.
