For more than 40 years, the photographer Lynn Goldsmith has helped shape the mythic stature of artists and celebrities across media, genres and eras. There Morrison Hôtel Gallery showcases his work from the streets of New York and offers a perspective on celebrity status with iconic images. Lynn’s work has appeared in Newsweek, Time, Rolling Stone, Interview, People, Sports Illustrated, and on groundbreaking album covers, such as Easter of Patti Smith and Sheik Yerbouti the Frank Zappa.
In her works, Lynn Goldsmith attempts to break limiting thought patterns. The images shown were taken after studio portrait sessions, when Lynn and her subjects were walking around New York.
These visionary pieces convey confidence, authenticity, irreverence, empathy. There are rock stars and movie stars like Van Halen and Keith Richards, Richard Gere, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. This exhibition features a range of portraits of these famous faces on the streets of New York City between 1973 and 2013.
