According to the portal “Delfi”, there are several fire trucks on the spot, as well as the police have demarcated the territory.
The strong flames at first burst on one side of the store, but around 4 o’clock in the morning most of the store was already burning.
Strong smoke can also be seen from other districts of the city, eyewitnesses report.
The State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Twitter reports that the call was received at 2.43 on Stacijas Street in Rēzekne, where a public building is on fire.
32 firefighters are working at the scene, using eight tank trucks and three car stairs.
Fire containment works are underway.
The building burns a full area of 3,500 square meters.
Extinguishing works are taking place from the outside, because the walls of the building have collapsed in several places.
Residents have been evacuated from the adjacent apartment building, reports SFRS.
Traffic is closed at the scene.
No people have been injured in the fire, the company told the portal “Delfi”. Several fire brigades are working at the scene, in the presence of representatives of SIA “DEPO DIY”.
SIA “DEPO DIY” has established an internal working group that participates in the prevention of the consequences of fire. The company is cooperating with the responsible state institutions to find out the cause of the fire, the company stressed.
Tonight at 02.43 SFRS received a call to Stacijas Street in Rēzekne, where a public building is burning. There are 32 fire and rescue workers at the scene, using 8 tank trucks and 3 stairs. Fire containment works are underway. The area is being cleared.
