PHOTO ⟩ Police in Riga seize a large amount of narcotic substances

Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the incident according to the second part of Article 253 of the Criminal Law, that is, for the unauthorized possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances, if it was done with narcotic substances in large quantities.

Such a crime is punishable by deprivation of liberty for a period of three to ten years, with or without confiscation of property, and probation supervision for a period of up to three years.

The State Police reminds that no person is considered guilty until his guilt in committing a criminal offense is proven in accordance with the procedures prescribed by law.

The State Police obtains information about persons who buy, sell or store illegal cigarettes, psychotropic and narcotic substances, as well as alcohol as a result of operational activities, but often the State Police receives information about the illegal activities of a resident from the citizens, for which the law enforcement officers express their gratitude and invite continue to report such violations.
