Perpetrators Beater Damkar Officers in Makassar Arrested

Makassar – Two people were secured by the police, because they beat firefighters who were doing watering on the fire site, on Jalan Maccini Baru, Maccini Gusung Village, Makassar District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, Sunday 28 June 2020.

The beating occurred when Damkar officers while trying to tame the fire that engulfed seven home the citizens. However, the two alleged perpetrators tried to take the hose from the hands of officers so that there was a tug of war until the beating of three Damkar officers ensued.

Some residents were dissatisfied, and then they wanted to take the job of the Damkar officer.

Luckily, in that incident the police officers were temporarily carrying out security, immediately arrested two suspected perpetrators and took him to Mapolrestabes Makassar.

Makassar Damkar Danki, Rustam Effendi said, there were three Damkar officers who suffered injuries due to beating residents.

“There were three people who became victims, after being involved in clashes with residents. Then they were rushed to the nearest hospital,” Rustam Effendi said.

The cause of the incident, said Rustam Effendi, was because there were several residents around the location who were not satisfied when the Damkar officers put out the fire.

“There are residents who are dissatisfied, then they want to take on the duties of the Damkar officer. Initially they snatched each other’s intervals. The Damkar officers have been trained so we know which one to water. In fact, even the nearest Damkar fleet has taken over our functions and duties so that the fire quickly enlarged, “he said.

One in three members of the Damkar had to be rushed to the hospital, due to bleeding around his face.

“Hit by a blow to his left temple causing bleeding. Two of these officers were assigned to the hose to spray water and another officer in the facility. They were hit by residents,” he explained.

Effendi also advised the public not to impede the functions and duties of the Damkar officers so that they would not cause greater losses.

“We are very grateful if there are residents who help, but if a Damkar officer is present at the scene of the crime first handed to us so that it is known where the fire should be extinguished,” he explained.
