„Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri“, the film with the bulky, complicated title, was the big winner at the „Golden Globes“ – and not surprisingly: best film, best script, two actor awards, director McDonagh could be completely satisfied. Now the film justifies its current “hype”, the predicate “Film of the year”?

At its core, “Three Billboards” is one Provincial grotesque, a weird satire full of black humor, but which also contains serious, “emotional” scenes, as well as brutal sequences full of blood and violence; a wild mix of genres that is certainly not for everyone, cannot be – and does not want to be at all.

McDonagh sends his ensemble cast (especially: Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson) through one Tour de Force full of anger, hate, revenge, small and big tragedies, in which the (black) humor is not neglected. All the characters in the film are one way or another …
