People with Immune Disorders Need 2 Doses of Covid-19 Vaccine Booster Injections

Suara.com – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its COVID-19 coronavirus guidelines for people with immune disorders.

CDC says immunocompromised people may need 4 injections Covid-19 vaccine or 2 times booster injections Covid-19 vaccine.

The CDC says that people who are 18 years of age and over and have received two initial injections of the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine and received Covid-19 vaccine booster injection, may still require another dose of a booster shot, either from Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

“In this situation, people with moderate to severe immunosuppression can get four injections of the Covid-19 vaccine,” the CDC said Fox News.

People with moderate or severe immune disorders need to get a booster shot of the Covid-19 vaccine 28 days after getting the second shot. Then, they can also get a booster shot of the Covid-19 vaccine for the second time after 6 months.

People 18 years of age and over with moderate to severe immune disorders who have received their first single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine should receive a booster shot of Covid-19 vaccine from Pgizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson at least after 2 months.

Last week, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave approval to mix two types of Covid-19 vaccines. That is, people can get a booster shot of the Covid-19 vaccine from a different brand with two initial doses.

“This Covid-19 vaccine booster injection is very important to provide continuous protection. Because the data currently available shows a decrease in the immunity of a number of people who have been fully vaccinated,” said Dr. Janet Woodcock, FDA commissioner.

The third injection or booster shot of the Covid-19 vaccine is currently classified as an additional dose. The CDC has also recommended additional doses of this Covid-19 vaccine for pregnant women with moderate or severe immune disorders and people aged 12 years and over with immune disorders.

People with immunocompromising conditions or people undergoing immunosuppressive therapy are among the groups that are vulnerable to being severely infected with the Covid-19 corona virus. According to the CDC, decreased vaccine effectiveness has been observed in immunocompromised participants compared with non-immunocompromised participants in a number of studies.
