What started off, can just end with a sigh. Disney + attracted millions of subscribers at launch. The main attraction was not so much in the films and series that Disney already offered, but in its new content. Such is the series The Mandalorian, which intrigued people worldwide and is now seen as the future of the Star Wars franchise.Now that the series is over, the ComicBook site reports that there are a lot of people on social media who say they have canceled their subscription. The streaming service, for example, seems to get a blow at the last moment of the year. It is difficult to say how big that blow is going to be, but it is clear that there is still little original content coming to the service.
Competition with Netflix
When Disney + was launched, many called it a possible Netflix killer. That has not been true. Around 1 million subscribers switched from Netflix to Disney +, but most people saw it as an addition to their streaming subscription. So it is not so bad for Netflix and it will probably stay that way.
No streaming service has really managed to make a dent in Netflix’s hegemony so far and it seems that it will stay that way. What Netflix has in mind for the rest is a constant and diverse range of original content. Even Amazon can’t help but struggle with keeping its streaming service Prime Video interesting.
