Pentagon Assesses Risks of Leaked Documents on Russian Invasion of Ukraine and US Allies

The United States is trying to assess the risks associated with the leak of classified documents, which relate in particular to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, for their national security, the Pentagon said on Sunday, confirming information from the American press. The documents are said to be US intelligence assessments and reports related to the war in Ukraine, but also to US allies.

These documents which have been disseminated on social networks could prove invaluable for Moscow, by revealing the extent to which the American intelligence services have penetrated parts of the Russian military apparatus, estimated American media. The Ministry of Justice is trying to identify the source of the leaks and is still examining the validity of the documents released. Selon le Washington Post, which quotes US officials, some appear to have been tampered with. But most would correspond well to the CIA reports circulating at the White House, the Pentagon or even the State Department.

Some documents also contain information relating to countries allied with the United States: one of them highlights the governmental discussions in South Korea on the possibility of supplying American artillery shells

to Ukraine, according to the New York Times.
