Penny and Rewe recall cake – naturopathy & naturopathic specialist portal

Cake can contain plastic parts: call back to Rewe and Penny

A call back to Rewe was reported a few days ago because plastic parts in cakes had been discovered. Penny Cake, which was produced by the same manufacturer, is now being recalled.

The company B + F Bakery & Food from Salzkotten (North Rhine-Westphalia) has started a recall for the frozen product “Baker’s crowning, plucked cake” in the 500 gram pack. According to the company, it cannot be ruled out that there may be white plastic parts in the cake.

Recalled products may contain white plastic parts

The manufacturer B + F Bakery & Food from Salzkotten, North Rhine-Westphalia, is recalling the product “Bäckerkrönung, Zupfkuchen, 500g, frozen” with the EAN: 28271772, the best-before date: October 31, 2020 and the batch number: L060-1011119.

According to consumer information published by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety on its portal “lebensmittelwarnung.de”, it cannot be ruled out due to a production error that the product may contain white plastic parts in individual cases. The cake was sold in branches of the Penny food discounters.

A few days ago, the manufacturer recalled the article “Rewe Best Choice, Zupfkuchen, 500 grams, frozen” – also because of any plastic parts it might contain.

Customers can return the affected products in the respective penny market or in the respective Rewe market and receive the purchase price reimbursed, even without presenting the receipt.

We strongly advise against eating the cake

“We strongly advise against eating the affected product,” warns the manufacturer. “A possible health hazard cannot be ruled out with complete certainty,” says the consumer information.

Foreign bodies in food can cause many different injuries and symptoms, such as wounds in the mouth and throat.

In addition, swallowed plastic parts – if they are large enough – can block the esophagus or digestive organs.

And if smaller parts remain in the body, they can sometimes cause inflammation. Internal injuries cannot be ruled out either. (Ad)
